A Day of Mourning...My First Wedding Hiccup :(
Sad news...
As most of you know, Dale and I were planning on having our wedding at Eight Mile Ranch. I called today to set up a day this week to sign the papers and....
They are getting evicted!!
The people that run the show up there are leaving, after 18 years, as the owners are leasing out/selling it off to new people!!
I am DEVASTATED!
Perhaps this is a lesson for us...our wedding was obviously not meant to be there... It is just really hard to grasp right now.
HEAT WAVE

It has been sooo hot in Kelowna... even Ginger has had to cool off with some watermelon!

6 more sleeps until Las Vegas!! And is supposed to be up to 43 degrees there...yikes!

After my return from Vegas, Dale is going to meet me in Vancouver and then we are heading up to Whistler for a few days. We will do some biking, the zip line (repelling through trees- facing my fear of heights !!). We are then moving on to Bill's Puddle to visit some of my family :) and then to Sun Peaks in Kamloops to do some more biking with Liz and Justin.

This is going to be a great vacation and I am super excited! A trip with friends, then fiance, then family. Can't beat that!! Posted by Picasa

A Beaver?!

The other night at my OutDoor Core class, the craziest thing happened. We were jsut finishing up our stretching/meditation on the beach (closest to Knox Mt) when we spotted a creature. We were no sooner opening our eyes when a beaver was right there...staring at us!? It was the biggest beaver I have ever seen (I have never seen a real one, but it really was big!).
I received an email from Mel, my fitness guru, and I am going to paste her newsletter, which I may add, Freya and I are kinda featured because really we were there :0 ) Freya's first time joining me, WAY TO GO FREYA, and I just want to let her know that these things don't happen every Thursday night! :)

You never know what you might getwhen you start to meditate…this weeks
group of OutDoor enthusiasts produced a BEAVER; a very large, somewhat friendly
beaver! We practiced our Pilates in the park under
the shade trees and practiced our Yoga inthe water for an added element of
balance…I was really hoping for a soaker but no one fell in! Good job ladies! Then
we settled on our mats for a few moments of meditation. Our calm energy must have
made our rodent friend feel at ease forwhen we opened our eyes, he was perhaps
only 12ft away with his rather large noseand head poking out of the water with no
more than idle curiosity towards us. The sight of this creature took a few moments
of mental digestion and we collectively decided, “This must be a sign!” …of what? I
looked it up!Believe this or not…I know I am choosing the
former.“If The Beaver appears in your life, it can
reflect the opportunity to build upon yourdreams…ask yourself some important
questions. Have you been neglecting yourmost basic dreams?...the beaver reminds us
that we have to act on our dreams to make them reality.
When it shows up, it’s time foraction. Beavers can show you how to
construct wonderful dreams.”
So now my job is to figure out my real dream this summer...and go for it! Crazy eh?

Move over Cecil... Perogies Anyone!?

Last night, Dale and I went to Candace and Dave's for a Perogy Party.

I was nice to see a lot of our good friends, slave away at making probably well over a hundred perogies, and then feasting!!

PEROGY MENU:

- Dale brough a cottage cheese filling
- Candace & Jess made potato/bacon/cheddar/dilll filling
- everyone brought salads, Candace made a ham, garlic toast, and of course there were desserts

The night was awesome and a lot of fun. Oops I forgot to add WINE on the menu!!

NeW hObbY

As many of you might already know, Dale is very much into mountain biking. He is stellar at it, and always has the best gear and great friends to ride with. This is his second time having a summer seasons pass to Silver Star to bike up there.

He has always urged me to try out biking (more than my cruiser bike) I finally gave in a couple of weeks ago..and I loved it!!!

Downhill riding is such a rush, and I have a blast. I took some pretty easy runs to start and the last time I was up I was brave enough to try some ahrder ones. I ahve to admit the first time out, I had a huge tumble and what I like to call
"shale=bail."

The last time out, Tasha (her biking name is crasha-even though she didn't crash but it just sounds cool) came with us. We did some awesome runs, and by the end of the day some beer were definately in order. We were bruised and sore from head to toe.

Anyayws, I am so proud of myself, becuase I have never been an extreme sport type of person. It is something though, that I can see myself getting into- but still a bit more on the cautious side of things in comparison to crazy Honky.

Side Note - I do wear a TON of armour/full face helmet...

17 more sleeps to Vegas Baby!!
In 17 more sleeps- I will embarking on a girls getaway to Las Vegas..to stay at the MGM Grand to celebrate Kyrsti's upcoming wedding! YEEHHAHHH!!!

Well, my lavender finally got flowers!
As many of you know, I am an amateur gardener. This year, partly because I have the summer off, I have been very keen into growing vegetables as well as landscaping. I quite enjoy doing it, and my apologies now to Freya for always making fun of her for it.

I bought some lavender ealry in the season, and wondered what the heck kind I bought because it was all green with no purple tips ?! hehe...then lately the flowers have started to bloom. I absolutely love it!

I also planted some wildflowers this spring...and they are finally blooming too! It's like giving birth...something you have awaited for so long is finally here and you nuture and care for them so faithfully. I realize that many of you mothers are saying to yourself, this girl is nuts, I meant the dedication and constant love and devotion to making something until it arrives :)

The Beginning of the 'Before and Afters'

As the reno's, landscaping, painting and everything else slowly starts finishing up, I can start posting some good pics. Because I LOVE taking pictures, I have documented the whole process. Where I find the time, I don't know. It may explain why I still have two suitcases still packed from trips over the last month! hehe. Priorities right!?

So here is the front yard before (sporatic grass, actually the arbor wasn't originally there, 4 solar lights- you will notice that two were stolen in between these pics- good ol' downtown!)

Dale and I worked REALLY hard and must have planted grass seed about 4-5 times, out there watering all the time! We also got some muclh to put under the cedars, which I think cleans it right up!

It is amazing how we go through this process. We originally wanted to fix up to sell in a year or two. Now we are starting to like it too much!
