Sittin' & Swingn'

Today was a beautiful day in the Okanagan. Annie's Oma ( Dale's Mom) invited us to an afternoon at the park.

Annie got to practice her sitting. She is doing so well- less support needed, and fewer collapses!

She also went in the swing for the first time. She loved it! We never had an infant swing ( you know the indoor kind that lulls the baby to sleep- nope, not us). So I think this was her first experience with that motion. Throw in some warm sunshine and the sounds of kids laughter, and it would make anybody's day!

My thighs were stolen from me during the night a few years ago.
I went to sleep and woke up with someone else's thighs. It was just that
quick.
The replacements had the texture of cooked oatmeal.
Whose thighs were these and what happened to mine?
I spent the entire summer looking for my thighs.
Finally, hurt and angry, I resigned myself to living out my life in
jeans.
And then the thieves struck again.

My bum was next. I knew it was the same gang, because they took
pains to match my new rear-end to the thighs they had stuck me with
earlier. But my new bum was attached at least three inches lower
than my original! I realized I'd have to give up my jeans in favour
of long skirts.

Two years ago I realized my arms had been switched. One morning I
was drying my hair and was horrified to see the flesh of my upper
arm swing to and fro with the motion of the hairbrush. This was
really getting scary - my body was being replaced one section at a time.

What could they do to me next?

When my poor neck suddenly disappeared and was replaced with a
turkey neck, I decided to tell my story. Women of the world wake up
and smell the coffee! Those 'plastic' surgeons are using REAL
replacement body parts -stolen from you and me! The next time
someone you know has something 'lifted', look again - was it lifted from
you?

THIS IS NOT A HOAX. This is happening to women everywhere every night.

P.S. Last year I thought some one had stolen my Boobs. I was lying
in bed and they were gone! But when I jumped out of bed, I was
relieved to see that they had just been hiding in my armpits as I
slept. Now I keep them hidden in my waistband.

Tuesday Tidbits

• Annie is constantly improving her solid food menu... green peas, carrots, avocado, peas with avocado and now chicken. Sounds appetizing I know.
• I have the garden bug. Must... get... garden.... ready...
• My whole body is extremely sore from brutal bootcamp yesterday. I can hardly lift Annie. Good sore though.
• Went out to the Keg for dinner with friends on Saturday night.
• Spent way too much at Costco yesterday- why is it impossible to get out of there without having to claim bankruptcy?
• I am going for a pedicure this afternoon... ahhhhh.....
• I gave in and bought the new swiffer vac- the BEST 30 dollars I ever spent!
• I am addicted to coffee.
• The wind makes my dog bark. my dog's bark makes me mad. me mad is not a good way to start my day.
• Dale's brother turned the big 4-0 and we had a family dinner on the weekend. I love singing " Lordy Lordy..."
• Annie is going to go into piano lessons when she is old enough. Decided upon this with hubby this morning.
  

annie was so advanced. they moved her up a few age groups. she was practicing diving for rings already. genius child.


just kidding.... but she did like to reach for them... and eat them?!

Tuesday Tidbits

I am going to try really hard to post more often. Especially on Tuesdays. Its going to be called... brace yourselves... Tuesday tidbits! Bits of random stuff that can't quite make their own posts, but are worthwhile in sharing.

• I LOVE and am somewhat addicted to the new Truffle Blizzard. Bad.
• I saw a lady filing her nails while driving yesterday... I thought cell phones were bad...
• I went to the New Kids on the Block Concert and am a young girl in love all over again. I love you Joey!!!!!
• I finally won at Monopoly.
• Could the spring blossoms be anymore beautiful??
• I might go camping May Long weekend... am I nuts?
• Just saw SlumDog Millionaire...soo good!
• Made lasagna from scratch today- love being a stay at home mommy!
• There is way too much inapprpriate conduct on the new 90210 for tweens to be watching.

Veggie Vixen

This household has been all about the veggies lately.

Spring was in the air this weekend and my wonderful hubby got out there and rottotillered ( sp?) the veggie garden. For once our soil looks great. We are so excited to plant this year, as we have another mouth to feed those wonderful homegrown, organic veggies to!

Speaking of that sweet little extra mouth that inhabits this house... she has started eating veggies.
Started off with peas, and now onto carrots. I am making its myself-so rewarding.
She wasn't quite sure at first, but now she had decided she likes them both, grabbing for the spoon. Its too cute to see the look on her face every first bite. I can just imagine the little thoughts going through her mind.

She really likes her high chair though. Very happy to be sitting like a big girl, so high up.
Its hard to believe her somedays.

P.S. 6 month check up..... 15 pounds ( 50th percentile ). Healthy as can be all around.
I even tattletaled and told the doctor about her fake cough. I told her I was going to... mommys have to keep their word right?

New Game Addiction

The new game as of late... Monopoly.
Bringing it back in... hours at a time.

Dale and I have started to be gamers- board gamers that is. About a month ago we had a craving for Monopoly. We usually try to find our games used, but we just had to have it! We went to Toys R US and there must have been about 30 different versions of the game, I kid you not. We wanted the old school, basic version. $17 dollars later and it was ours!
Since then we have played 4 times. Each one with different company: some named Cluny that are cheaters, always cousin Jeff, and all involving some kind of husband and wife feud-ery.
It is safe to say we addicted to the game. Or addicted to the power, bargaining and greed.


Its funny how everybody has 'their' favs to buy. I seemed to do quite well with my States Ave colour group. See said photo. Dale's dad's thimble landing on me.... oh the memories.

P.S. I like to always be the shoe.... you?

half a year baby!

little annie bannannie is 6 months old! changing everyday....

• she is starting to sit up on her own with support ( otherwise she topples!)
• she is a bable queen
• she has developed a fake cough- hilarious! gets what she wants i guess!
• she loves to smile... but has started to smile at others and turn her face- a little shy?
• she is eating cereal in the morning and dinner and after her 6 month check up tomorrow we will start with some veggies!
• still teething but no sign of any through the skin yet
• really reaching and grabbing for toys
  

what i thought was all good except for her new bad habit....

She WONT take a bottle!!?? She has always had one here and there since birth. Whether its formula or pumped breastmilk. But the last couple of times someone has tried- she freaks out!?
I don't know what to do? eek- silly girl.

Swimming Lessons

Today marked Annie's first swim lesson. For the next 5 weeks, her and Daddy are going to the YMCA for their 'Splashers' class. It was a great start to a weekend!
Annie wasn't thrilled at first, but after some sweet lovin from her dad and encouragement from the sidelines from mom, she warmed up to the idea, and soon enough was floating around like it was nobody's business. They played with balls, blew bubbles, sang songs and even did a few 'dunks!'
