Scaredy Pants...

I have always been a little on the sketchy side... easily scared and really, quite a baby. In fact, when I was little, shows like Unsolved Mysteries scared the hell out of me! Who watches a show based on crazy killers who have yet to be caught?? Still to this day, America's Most Wanted, and just plain staying at home by myself scares me. How old am I again? Oh yes, 25.

Anyways... About 15 minutes ago, I was out on the deck, and the dogs were barking at the camper in the backyard. I look over and the door is a bit ajar!! I didn't know what to do. We have a nearby crackhouse that we think is finally moving out, and my sissy mental conclusion was that they could have just moved into the camper and operate their business secretly in my backyard. Actually my thoughts didn't get that far- but they could have real fast. I called Freya- she said not to worry..but I couldn't help it. So I called Cluny..

Drastic times call for drastic measures... Cluny decided that it would be okay if I just stayed on the phone with her and went and pushed open the door. So, I worked up some nerve, got about half way there and then paranoia set in. So I decided to go grab a shovel (defense mechanism as well-I'm a thinker) and push it open with that. So there I went, cordless in one hand, shovel in the other, tramping across my backyard. I think at this point my neighbours that that we are the crackhouse!!

I pushed it ajar- and nothing there! PHWEF!... But as I walk away, it swings back open a bit...and as I write the dogs are barking still. EEEEEEEEEEE!

2 minute update..now its closed again...soooo.... my doors are now locked and I am venting/sweating/displaying typical avoidant behaviour.

Life
Life seems to be getting into full swing these days again. With school fast approaching, my anxiety is building up again. No job as of yet, but regardless I will be automatically on the sub list.
Went into my school from last year, North Glenmore Elementary, and talked to Dwayne, my prinicpal. He is an amzing man and he is gunning for me. He figures they will need at least one more teacher as enrollemnt is crazy- with 20 kids registering in just one day this week. Unfotrunately, the district won't allot any teachers until they see "the whites of their eyes" - meaning not until the first couple of days of school and the kids are there with no classroom teacher for them! everyone at the school is hoping to get me so please keep me in your thoughts!
As for wedding plans- those are in full swing too! Next August 18th- I will be married! That is less than a year away! I can't even believe it! Our ceremony and reception will both be a the Ranch, our caterer is booked, and all the other little details are slowly falling into place. We have a meeting with a photographer next week and that is exciting too! It all really sets it into reality that this is it! I have even tried on a few dresses- scary- I am not a real ceneter of attention kinda person and apparently trying on a white formal dress really cements that fact that that day will be all about me and Dale. Weird!
Needless to say, summer holidays is winding down and just like the ugly overcast weather today- Fall is nearly here!

Last Night in Vegas

Our last night there we did the real "stagette thing." We dressed Krysti up and we all wore matching shirts. It was really fun. Thanks to Kelly adn Keri, we took a Hummer Limo around for a couple of hours. It was spectacular and we all felt like drunk movie stars! I am not sure if Cluny remembers though because she had a little nappy nap in the limo!

After the crusinn' we went to Pure. This super posh night club where all the stars go when they are in Vegas. It was unbelievable. We met up with this huge group of guys from Scandanavia who where there, obviously winning, at a poker tourney. We drank and mingled, one of their friends puked, and we left!

Bon Voyage Vegas!! I will return with Dale in the fall/winter!

The best dinner I have ever had...at Emerils in the MGM Grand!

That night we went to Emerils for dinner. It was the unspeakable. The service was amazing- down to several waiters looking after 11 women's every beck and call.

Cluny and I shared food because it was a little on the pricey side- especially for the unemployed!

We started with some amazing oysters, the least expensive bottle of wine (45$!)- the most expensive was in the $3000 range!

We then had the most tasteful, mouth watering meal EVER! Words can not even describe the deliciousness (yes Dad that is a word) I experienced.

YUMMMYYY!!! Anyone that ever has a chance to go to one of Emeril Lagasse's restaurants in the U.S.- DO IT!

The beautiful bride to be Krysti and her Maid of Honour Kelly- Go outfielders!

Cluny and our new friend Jenny from Calgary

Next summer's beautiful brides to be- the future Mrs. Vos and Mrs. Letkeman at Emeril's!

The Beginnings of Day 2

The MGM Grand

For anyone who hasn't been to Vegas.. the Hotels are extrememly large. In fact by the fourth day we still couldn't find our way around...our own hotel lobby! They are like massive malls in themselves. Our hotel must have had at least 10 restaurants!!

In the bottom main lobby, there was a lion habitat! Crazy eh?! (so Canadian!)

The trainers would come out with them for a couple fo hours each day.. it was pretty neat to see but also VERY sad. We actually convinced ourselves that the lions actually had a much better place to s ay attached to the back when they weren't on show.

You could walk rigfht underneath them and see them laying there sleeping..less then a meter above you!!

Any of you know a good countdown ticker/timer I can put on my Blog?
First night in Vegas

The fist night we arrived, after lounging by the pool (5 pools and a tube ride)at our hotel, the MGM Grand, we had a busy night ahead of us!

We went to a nice dinner across the street at New York New York (I will post about this hotel another time). We then when to "O" Cirque de Soliel. It was AMAZING! Words can not even describe the unbelievable water, acrobatic, costumes and music!! Crazy!

We then went out to this fancy club where there was even a waterfall and pond inside the club. Some guy puked right by us - but it was too dark in there for any pics to work out!

But, thanks ot Lindsay, I have figured out this cool new slideshow option!! Check out the night!

Departure Day!!

Sunday morning, which came bright and early at aproximately 4:30 am..we got up and started our journey. This is most certainly why we all look so BEAUTIFUL in these photos at YVR.

We somehow managed to almost miss our flight, even though our trip Mom, organized Miss Leier, had us all there on time and ready. The Custom line ups were so massive that we weren't even through them an our flight was leaving in 10 minutes. Needless to say, there were many other passengers in that line-up and our flight didn't end up leaving until half and hour after scheduled.

We flew to Phoenix, where we had a couple of hours lay over. The flights were pretty good, as far as I can remember, cause I was all doped up on Gravol!

So we left Vancouver at about 8 am (correct me ladies if I am wrong) and arrived in Sin City( VIVA Las Vegas!) at about 4pm.

Then the adventures began...

Fantastic Night! Thanks again Jenny for your hospitatlity!!

THIS MAY COME A SURPRISE TO THOSE OF YOU NOT LIVING IN LAS VEGAS, BUT THERE ARE MORE CATHOLIC CHURCHES THAN CASINOS.

NOT SURPRISINGLY, SOME WORSHIPPERS AT SUNDAY SERVICES WILL GIVE CASINO CHIPS RATHER THAN CASH WHEN THE BASKET IS PASSED.

SINCE THEY GET CHIPS FROM MANY DIFFERENT CASINOS, THE CHURCHES HAVE DEVISED A METHOD TO COLLECT THE OFFERINGS.
THE CHURCHES SEND ALL THEIR COLLECTED CHIPS TO A NEARBY FRANCISCAN MONASTERY FOR SORTING AND THEN THE CHIP ARE TAKEN TO THE CASINOS OF ORIGIN AND CASHED IN.
THIS IS DONE BY THE CHIP MONKS.

YOU DIDN'T EVEN SEE IT COMING DID YOU?

As Promised...

I will start posting re: my travels. But I have to warn you that, there could in fact, be A LOT of pictures! There was so much good-timing going on that I want to try as I may, recount it for you. But remember- what happens in Vegas....

As you know, I went to Vegas for a stagette before Krysti gets married on Aug 26th here in Kelowna. There were eleven of us in total- basically a 4 day party!

The pictures may not even do it justice- the place is phenomenal- its like going to disneyland- except for grownups!!

Jen and Rob's Wedding

Last weekend (I know a much over- due post), we went to Jen and Rob's wedding.
I figure I better post it now, because I leave tomorrow for my 2 week vaction extravaganza! This will hopefully keep people busy until I come back with a million and one pics and stories. Yes Dale, a million and one.
I know Jen from University, and it was a great opportunity to see her and all of our friends again!

The wedding took place up at Cedar Creek Winery -which was absolutely beautiful!! Jen looked like a princess and it was so nice to be part of their special day.

Up at the winery, we were in 'happy camera' mode and took ample opportunity of all of us friends from the teaching program being there!
The Boys...

The Girls...
I tried to get pictures of all the couples that were there with us.

Kylene and Ehrenfelser

Unfortunately, I didn't get a pic of Liz and Justin together. But I did get some candid shots. In between the Ceremony and Reception, Dale and I hosted a little wine-tasting and appy party at our place. We then alll walked down to the Laurel Building for the reception. Along the way Justin dropped their present...oops...

It was really nice to see Liz and Justin and baby Hunter (not so little anymore!). They even ended up staying at our place!! :)

Candy and Dave- we went to their wedding/renewal of vows in the Fall...the honeymooners/perogy party hosts!
Krista and Mike - another couple friend of ours who is getting married..no date set yet though!
All of these fine looking ladies are teachers...no bad 'eh kids!!??
And good ol' Honky and Patootie

And last but not least- my good friend Jess and Tyler. They are teaching In China, and are back for some holidays in Canada! Loved catching up with Jess- we have so much fun together!
As the night goes on...lots of wine to be consumed!
A beautiful first dance!
All of the girls from University- I LOVE these ladies!!

The happily married couple- Mr. and Mrs. Webster!
